Miss Roseiano – only the second ever Group-winning 2YO filly by Exceed And Excel to be offered for public auction off the track in Australia – will feature in an Inglis Digital standalone sale later this month.
To be offered as both a racing and breeding prospect on July 17 and 18, the regally bred Miss Roseiano (Exceed and Excel x Special Lover) is an exceptionally rare offering for commercial breeders and racing stables alike.
An extremely fast filly, the Gelagotis Racing-trained Miss Roseiano displayed her elite 2YO speed from the outset of her racing career.
She debuted with victory in the G3 Blue Diamond Preview for juvenile fillies, in a time approximately five lengths faster than the colts and geldings equivalent on the same day which was won by subsequent G1 winner Daumier.
The debut victory also came in a faster time than previous winners of the race including Dosh, Fontiton, Eloping, Miracles of Love etc, a performance co-trainer Manny Gelagotis described at the time as “unbelievable’’ and “exceptional’’, declaring Miss Roseiano “one out of the box’’.
Miss Roseiano then finished second to dual Group winner Revolutionary Miss in the G2 Blue Diamond Prelude at her second start before proving unlucky in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes.
A $300,000 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale purchase, Miss Roseiano is from one of the best families in the Australasian Stud Book.
Her 4th dam is the outstanding blue hen mare Eight Carat, from whom 67 Stakes winners are descendant, including the likes of Commands, Deep Field and Verry Elleegant
Miss Roseiano’s I Am Invincible half sister was also the most expensive filly ever sold at an Inglis Premier Sale, realising $1.1m earlier this year, while her dam is back in foal to the Champion sire.
Miss Roseiano is herself a daughter of Exceed And Excel, the broodmare sire of 83 Stakes winners including G1 stars such as Astern, Hanseatic, Tuvalu, Madame Pommery, Prompt Response, Bounding, Ten Sovereigns etc.
She is out of a mare by Pins, who features as the sire of the 2nd dam of G1 winners like champion mare Avantage, Espiona, Pignan and Never Been Kissed and who is currently striking at one G1 winner every 48 runners.
Manny Gelagotis believes Miss Roseiano presents as a “rare and exciting’’ offering for a wide range of prospective purchasers.
“Clearly, she was an elite two-year-old. When she won her first start in the manner that she did it, we knew we had something very, very special on our hands,’’ Gelagotis said.
“Only exceptionally talented horses win Group races on debut and she’s just such a naturally gifted filly.
“She’s got so much racing upside still. When we bought her, we did so thinking she would be a Thousand Guineas (1600m) filly and while she’s proven over the sprint trips as a younger horse, we still believe she will no doubt get up to a mile, which brings races like the $10m Golden Eagle into play for her.
“Everywhere you look these days there are races worth $1m, $2m, $5m $10m etc that she would be eligible for and she has so much left to offer on the track.
“Then as a breeding prospect, well she’s a blue hen filly now, a Group winner, her sister was the most expensive filly ever sold at Inglis Premier earlier this year at $1.1m, the family’s legacy will continue to live on long into the future.
“She’s such an outstanding type, she’ll tick all the boxes for any trainer or commercial breeder and I guarantee you, the moment they lay eyes on her they’ll fall in love with her.’’
