A striking chestnut with a prominent blaze, Flying Concello improved on her debut fifth at Moe earlier this month to charge home and win the 1000m maiden by the best part of a length.

“She had no luck at Moe from a wide barrier on a tight turning track and I didn’t want that happening again today,” said Daniel Stackhouse.

“She got back today and switched off and I knew she had a big task ahead of her, but she went though her gears and hit the line really well. I was always pretty confident she could reel them in.”

Retained to race by her breeders, Flying Concello is the first winner for winning Lonhro mare Little Gypsy, a half-sister to Group I placed Roma Giaconda from the family of Group I winner Leica Smile and Group II winner Moon Dragon.

The yearling full brother to Flying Concello sold for $200,000 in the Newhaven Park draft at Magic Millions this year top Danny O’Brien Racing.

Flying Concello is the eighth winner for Trapeze Artist, who has three stakes performers in Facile, Flying Trapeze and Artistica.
