Sires by Bloodline – Snitzel

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 14

This series of stories is proving very popular and one of the biggest emerging sirelines that is on the cusp of a new wave belongs to Snitzel.

Snitzel is a champion sire that continues to deliver.

Arrowfield Stud’s Snitzel is always in the running for champion sire and even if he’s not taking the title, he’s always going to be in the mix and will finish this year as Champion 2YO Sire with Golden Slipper winner Shinzo his star performer.

A G1 winning son of champion sire Redoute’s Choice, he was not an immediate success and spent his first seven seasons standing at a fee no greater than $33,000 and living very much in the shadow of his illustrious sire. As time went on, Snitzel charged out of that shadow and emerged as an outstanding champion sire in his own right resulting in a huge number of sons now at stud.

Shamus Award, click for more info.

Cox Plate winner Shamus Award is a proven source of elite Group I winners with five to his credit headed by glamour stayers Incentivise and Duais, while Russian Revolution will be the Champion Second Crop sire with seven stakes-winners this season headed by G1 Randwick Guineas winner Communist.

Russian Revolution is the leading second crop sire by earnings, SW's and winners.

With his oldest progeny to turn three next season, Trapeze Artist has made a promising start and the new wave of young Snitzel sires are headed by Wild Ruler, In The Congo and Best of Bordeaux.

Further down the list are plenty of affordable options for breeders looking for that Snitzel bloodline on a budget.
