Zoustar Colt Ozzmosis Goes Two for Two

Mark Smith - Saturday June 10

Bjorn Baker will map out a spring campaign for Ozzmosis after the son of Zoustar kept his record at a perfect two for two at Randwick on Saturday.

Ridden by Dylan Gibbons, Ozzmosis tracked the hard-going Snitzel colt Royal Tribute before taking control at the 200m to win the 1100m handicap by one and a quarter length. The Encryption colt Fleetwood was two lengths back in third.

A $250,000 purchase for Darby Racing from the Sledmere Stud draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Ozzmosis made a winning debut against older horses over 1100m at Gosford on May 25.

“He’s a smart colt. Darby keeps finding them,” Baker said.

“I think I was more nervous about this bloke today than I have been about a racehorse in a long time.

“He has a big future. We will probably put him out now and have a good talk with team Darby about where we go. We are lucky in Sydney, there are never-ending options, and the prizemoney is so good.

“We will have a good think about where we do. I still think he will be better next preparation.

“He’s a Zoustar colt, so we must give him every opportunity.”

Bred by China Horse Club, Ozzmosis is the second winner from No More Tears (NZ), a Group III-winning Darci Brahma mare from the family of Group II winners Hips Don’t Lie, Splintex and this season’s star juvenile Learning to Fly.

No More Tears was a $550,000 purchase for China Horse Club from the Attunga Stud draft at the 2018 National Broodmare Sale.

A brother to Ozzmosis failed to make his $250,000 reserve when consigned by The Chase to the Gold Coat in January.

After foaling a Wootton Bassett (GB) colt last spring, No More Tears returned to Zoustar.
