One to Watch – Newcastle

Fairway Thoroughbreds have two royally bred fillies making their debut this weekend and while we wait for Sunday at Geelong to see City of Lights, the half-sister by Deep Impact to Winx, the other filly made a winning debut at Newcastle on Saturday.

Trained by Annabel Neasham, I Am Invincible two year-old filly Sounds of Heaven looked super sharp in a recent barrier trial win and duly proved too classy for her rivals in the 900m juvenile maiden.

 

She produced a similar effort under race conditions, surging out of the gates to lead and was strong to the line winning what looked a competitive race on paper by the best part of a length.

Sounds of Heaven was a $1.1million Magic Millions yearling.

A $1.1million Magic Millions purchase for James Harron Bloodstock from the Segenhoe Stud draft, Sounds of Heaven runs in the colours of her breeder John Camilleri of Fairway Thoroughbreds. She was bred in a foal share arrangement with Yarraman and Camilleri elected to buy them out and keep the well bred filly to race.

Foaled and raised at Segenhoe, she is the second foal and first winner for Group II placed Villa Carlotta, a half-sister to US based triple Group I winning mare In Italian, who comes from the Twyla branch of the famed Dancing Show (USA) that has given us Redoute’s Choice and so many more G1 winners.

Villa Carlotta was covered again last spring by I Am Invincible, who has sired 11 Australian two year-old winners this season, five of them stakes-winners!
