Likely final field for the Caulfield Cup

Breednet - Monday October 16

Racenet has compiled a likely field for Saturday’s Caulfield Cup.

Hartnell and Almandin were always unlikely runners in the race while a fracture has ruled Godolphin galloper Francis Of Assisi out of Saturday’s $3 million event.

Trainer Hugo Palmer has decided against backing up Herbert Power Stakes runner-up Wall Of Fire in the Caulfield Cup but the Aidan O’Brien-trained Johannes Vermeer is likely to run in Saturday’s race after his eye-catching Australian debut in the Ladbrokes Stakes on Saturday.

Racenet will adjust the field if necessary as connections of more runners decide their plans before the declaration of the final Caulfield Cup line-up on Tuesday.
