One To Watch - Echuca

Mark Smith - Sunday April 23

There are few hotter sires at present than Dundeel, who looks to have another likely type in the two-year-old filly Yosemite Falls.

Ridden by Declan Bates for Archie Alexander, Yosemite Falls was in a race of her own on debut, cruising to a six-and-a-half-length win over 1200m at Echuca on Sunday.

The Pride Of Dubai filly Sea Of Lights came closest at the finish, a short-neck in front of the Tosen Stardom gelding Tosen Impact.

A homebred for Bruce Wilson’s Glentree Pastoral, Yosemite Falls is the third winner from four to race for the Flying Spur mare Ruby Falls who has been catalogued in the Vinery Stud draft for the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale with an early service So You Think.

A half-sister to Group 1 MRC Thousand Guineas winner Irish Lights (Fastnet Rock), the dam of Omei Sword, Ruby Falls has a weanling brother to Yosemite Falls.

Yosemite Falls is the eighth 2yo winner of the season for Dundeel, whose dual Group 1 winning son Militarize is a frontrunner for champion 2yo honours.
