More Stakes Success for Deep Field’s Razeta

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 8

A stakes-winner at Flemington last spring, talented Deep Field filly Razeta added a second Black type win to her resume when beating the colts to win the $160,000 Listed ATC South Pacific Classic (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday.

A homebred for well-known breeder Bob Hannon trained by Kris Lees, Razeta had been running against some of the best fillies in Group races and appreciated the drop in class to return to winning form.

She enjoyed a good run in transit from gate one and found the line well for Dylan Gibbons to win by tao and a half lengths.

uo;Nothing really went right for her in Melbourne and we tried her at a mile and it was a little inconclusive, but she freshened up well back at the farm and she worked really strong on Tuesday morning so we decided to run today rather than keep her for the fillies race next week,” said Kris Lees, who will let the dust settle before planning his next move for Razeta.

Razeta has the overall record of three wins and a placing from nine starts with prizemoney topping $240,000.

A sister to Newgate Farm’s Group II ATC Roman Consul Stakes winning sire Cosmic Force, and half-sister to stakes-winner Onemorezeta, Razeta is the third stakes-winner and seventh winner overall from eight to race out of the Commands mare Little Zeta.

Little Zeta had a filly last spring by Merchant Navy and then unfortunately missed to Home Affairs.
