Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Friday March 31

Barrier trials at Warwick Farm on Friday morning featured five heats for two year-olds and two of them were won by youngsters sired by Widden Stud’s first season sire Trapeze Artist.

The Gary Portelli trained colt Flying Trapeze had three starts before Christmas contesting both the Breeders Plate and Golden Gift and while he finished out of the placings, he was not disgraced and appears to have come back better winning each of his two trials this time in.

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained unraced Trapeze Artist colt Wallenda had two trials last year, but did not go to the races and was having his second trial here and did everything right beating Bank Maur’s sister Namesake.

enda was a $160,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Widden Stud draft for his trainer and is a half-brother to Group III winner Decircles and four more Black Type performers being from terrific producer Lady Circles, who has had nine foals to race all winners.

Wallenda is the last foal from good producer Lady Circles.

Wallenda seems unlikely to blemish her record and he is her final foal as she passed away in 2020.

Lady Circles had a big pedigree being a half-sister to champions Elvstroem and Haradasun from blue hen Group I winner Circles of Gold, so Wallenda lacks for nothing in terms of pedigree.

Additional winners were Champers Girl (American Pharoah (USA), Zoukerette (I Am Invincible) and Prima Bella (Per Incanto (USA).
