Weekend Stakes Double for Casino Prince

Tara Madgwick - Monday March 27

Casino Prince might be one of the least expensive sires in the Hunter Valley, but the Vinery Stud based stalwart does his job better than plenty of others and featured at the weekend with a stakes double.

Bandersnatch secured a start in the Group I ATC Doncaster this Saturday winning the Group III ATC Doncaster Prelude at Rosehill, read about him here.

On Sunday, Casino Seventeen became the 23rd stakes-winner for his sire when taking out the $125,000 Listed Premeirs Cup (2200m) at Pinjarra for Grant and Alana Williams.

The five year-old gelding was a hot favourite and won by more than five lengths taking his overall record to seven wins and 14 placings from 28 starts with prizemoney topping $380,000.

Casino Seventeen was a $45,000 Magic Millions 2YO’s in Training purchase after selling for just $9,000 from the Widden Stud draft at Inglis Classic as a yearling.

Bred by Grant Briscoe, Casino Seventeen is the best of three winners from Denman mare Tikal, who comes from the family of multiple Group winner Ferragamo.

Casino Prince

A Group I winning son of Flying Spur, best known as the sire of All Too Hard, Casino Prince turns 20 this year and is a most affordable proven sire that produces 71% winners to runners.
