Verry Elleegant Brother Primed for Inglis Easter

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 21

Lime Country Thoroughbreds were one of the drafts featured on Caroline Searcy’s Inglis Easter Preview show on Sky last night and their draft features the full brother to Australian Horse of the Year and $14.8 million earner Verry Elleegant.

Lot 281 is the only yearling in the sale by Zed, a blueblood son of Zabeel that has actually done a very good job at stud from limited opportunity with Melbourne and Caulfield Cup winner Verry Elleegant, the best of his 17 stakes-winners.

The full brother to Verry Elleegant will be offered at Inglis Ester by Lime Country Thoroughbreds.

The colt is the seventh foal of Opulence, who has had five foals to race for four winners with those winners including another stakes-winner by Zed in Verry Flash, a tough stayer that won 11 races and was also Group III placed.

Jo Griffin has been well pleased with the colt since his arrival from New Zealand and his breeder Don Goodwin believes he is the most substantial yearling yet from his star producer.

The family has an interesting new update with three year-old Zed gelding Chico Sonado winning well on debut at Sandown and he is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to Verry Elleegant being from Hermione, a winning half-sister to her dam Opulence. Read about Chico Sonado here.

One thing is for certain, anyone that has a serious interest in securing a Cups horse of the future is going to look very hard at this colt.
