Another Magic Stakes Winner for Shadwell

Tara Madgwick - Saturday October 14
Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Stud won the first juvenile stakes race of the season in Melbourne with Magic Millions purchase Nomothaj and have now won the second with another Magic Millions purchase in Qafila.

Prepared by the Hayes / Dabernig training partnership, two year-old Not a Single Doubt filly Qafila settled off the pace, but finished with a late rush to overhaul Exceed and Excel colt Sacred Sword to win the Listed MRC Inglis Debutants Stakes a Caulfield on Saturday by a long neck.

She zoomed home for Damien Oliver to win the 1000 metre dash in 58.30 seconds .

"She's got nice scope," said Oliver.

"She didn't show much early pace, but when I asked for a supreme effort she dug deep. She showed she's a filly with a bit of quality."

"We've always had an opinion of her," said Tom Dabernig, who indicated the fill would remain in work for stakes races at Flemington with the Magic Millions 2YO Classic also on the radar.

Qafila is the 45th stakes-winner for Arrowfield Stud's Not a Single Doubt, who stands at $88,000, his highest fee to date.

Shadwell Stud were the fourth leading buyer at Magic Millions this year spending $2,895,000 on seven yearlings, two of them now stakes-winners!
