$410,000 Colt Equals Best for Written By

Tara Madgwick - Monday March 6

Widden Stud’s promising young sire Written By achieved a big result late on Monday at Inglis Premier when the Gilgai Farm bred and sold colt from Holy Cow sold for $410,000 to equal the previous best sales result for the young sire son of Written Tycoon.

A gorgeous chestnut reminiscent of his sire, the colt was snapped up by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock/ Best Bloodstock.

$410,000 Written By colt from Holy Cow

He is a half-brother to progressive three year-old Plus Fours, who ended a frustrating run of minor placings with an easy win at Pakenham last week.

He is the fourth foal of stakes-placed Holy Cow, a half-sister to stakes-winner Ondina from the family of 2020 European Horse of the Year Ghaiyyath and Group I winners Nightime and Zhukova.

Gilgai Farm must be liking what they are seeing from Holy Cow as she had a filly by I Am Invincible last spring and was then covered by Pinatubo (IRE).

The Champion 2YO Colt, Written By has made a pleasing start to his stud career as the sire of Group III winner The Novelist and stakes performers Scorsese and Gangitano.
