Ashleigh Thoroughbreds Mares Not to Miss

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Monday March 6

Senga Bissett and Ivan Woodford-Smith of Ashleigh Thoroughbreds have enjoyed years of commercial success as proven Group I producing thoroughbred breeders in the Hunter Valley and their decision to retire has led to a couple of lovely young mares being offered in the current Inglis Digital Sale finishing on Wednesday March 8.

Lot 274 is Mustang Suzy, a young mare by champion sire Snitzel from a quality North American Black Type family and she has the huge positive of being in foal to I Am Invincible’s exciting young sire son Hellbent in her second season at stud.

Mustang Suzy

Her first foal is a correct well grown filly by North Pacific, a grand-son of I Am Invincible, so her second mating is returning to the same sireline.

Hellbent is doing an outstanding job producing yearlings this year that have sold for up to $300,000  and had a brilliant winner on Saturday in Benedetta, who won the $750,000 Inglis Sprint in a breeze.

Snitzel mares are having a growing impact and are the dams of 22 stakes-winners headed by Golden Slipper winner Mossfun.

Lot 255 is Star Witness mare Imperial Consort offered in foal to Deep Field’s brilliant son Cosmic Force. She has a lovely yearling filly by Super One also in this sale and a weanling colt from the first crop of Not a Single Doubt’s explosive sprinter Anders.

Imperial Consort

She comes from a prolific Black Type family being a sibling to Group winners Red Colossus and Nediym’s Glow as well as the dam of Group II winner Kinglike and stakes-winner Royal Haunt with Group I placed Group III winner General Beau also on the page.

Star Witness has made his mark early in the broodmare sphere as sire of the the dam of Group I winning $3.3million earner Bella Nipotina.

Ashleigh are also offering Pia Sofia as Lot 281 on behalf of long-time friend and client Catherine Remond.

Pia Sofia

Pia Sofia is a young winning daughter of I Am Invincible being offered in foal to Cosmic Force in her second season at stud after producing a colt by So You Think last spring.

Pia Sofia comes from an outstanding family featuring Group I winners Atlantic Jewel, Russian Emperor, Commanding Jewel and I Am Excited as well as Group III winner Flippant, who had a colt by I Am Invincible sell for $2million at Magic Millions this year.
