One to Watch – Moonee Valley

Tara Madgwick - Monday March 6

We’re used to seeing impressive winners by Frankel popping up all over Australia, but it was another of the Juddmonte sires in Kingman that gave us a One to Watch on Sunday.

Three year-old filly Tass, who was conceived in the UK to Southern Hemisphere time, opened her account at Moonee Valley  with a four length win over 1600m at her second start.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Tass strode home alone as a short priced favourite.

“She’s a big raw filly and still learning. She was having a good look around, but she put the away easily, so there may be better races in store,” said winning rider John Allen.

Bred by Ozzie Kheir and retained to race in partnership, Tass is the second foal and second winner for stakes-winning Excellent Art mare Dynamic Lips (IRE), who did her racing in Germany.

Dynamic Lips is a half-sister to Champion German 3YO Miler Dragon Lips from the family of multiple Group II winning Champion Older German Staying Mare Durance.

Dynamic Lips has a two year-old filly by Exceed and Excel that was sold through the Emirates Park draft at Inglis Easter last year for $475,000 to Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / Kestrel Thoroughbreds.

She has a yearling filly by Fastnet Rock and after missing the next year is now in foal to The Autumn Sun.
