A competitive two year-old race at Canterbury on Friday night features two promising unraced colts by Dundeel, who appears to be on the cusp of an upswing.
Already a well proven Group I sire, Dundeel had a big fee increase in 2019 rising from the $27,500 he had stood at since starting his career up to $66,000 in the wake of some impressive offspring headed by Castelvecchio. He covered his biggest ever book of mares that year so was rewarded with quantity and quality.
That crop of foals conceived off the bigger fee are now two year-olds and there have been four to race so far for three winning colts – Militarize, Fistsoffury and Tavs.
The 1200m maiden tonight marks the debut of Tannhauser and Vomo Island, two Dundeel colts that have both shown good talent at the trials.
The race jumps at 6pm tonight.
