That's Catchy!

Media Release - Saturday January 21

A Group 1 winning 2YO, the impeccably bred Catchy now appears poised to make her mark from the breeding shed.

It was certainly Catchy that caught all the attention earlier this week at Monday’s official trials/jump outs with the Blue Diamond winner coming up with not one, but two heat winners in the shape of the Chris Waller trained 3YO Dakota Vroom winning her assignment at Randwick, while 2YO Floozie stepped out for Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr at Cranbourne.

$1.2million Dakota Vroom (I Am Invincible x Catchy)

Steered by James McDonald, Dakota Vroom (by I Am Invincible) was seriously impressive and undoubtedly Waller has something up his sleeve for the filly when she makes her race debut.

Similarly, Price was taken with the Cranbourne effort and has a high opinion of the year younger Zoustar filly who had Blake Shinn on board: “We’ll tip her (Floozie) back into the paddock for a spell but what she has showed me so far is very encouraging. Expect to see some big things from this girl when she returns later in the year.”

All of the Catchy action has created real interest for Inglis which will sell a Too Darn Hot half sister at its flagship Easter sale in April.

Indeed, Catchy was purchased by Rob and Sylvie Crabtree’s Dorrington Farm for $220,000 at the 2016 Easter before she went on to win the Blue Diamond, Group 2 Arrowfield, Group 2 Danehill and Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude, along with $2 million in stakes.

Crabtree sold Dakota Vroom to Waller & Hermitage Racing for $1.2 million at Easter ’21, but decided to retain Floozie to race in his familiar red and white checks.

While Crabtree – through Bhima Thoroughbreds – has decided to offer up the Too Darn Hot filly at Easter as Lot 61, it’s interesting to note that Dorrington Farm had a hand in the most expensive yearling sold by Too Darn Hot thus far, with his filly from Enbihaar knocked down for $1 million at last week’s Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Winner of the Blue Diamond Prelude too before finishing second in the Blue Diamond, Enbihaar was bred by Dorrington Farm.

Bring on Easter!
