Pride of Dubai Import Wins G3 Belle of the Turf

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday December 28

An Irish bred daughter of Pride of Dubai, Victorian visitor Deny Knowledge (Ire) was a dominant winner of the $240,000 Group III Gosford Belle of the Turf Stakes (1600m) on Wednesday.

Trained by Mick Kent, Deny Knowledge won two races in the UK before coming out to Australia in November last year and showed potential with a good win at Caulfield back in May.

Most recently she was a close fourth in the Group III MRC Summoned Stakes at Caulfield last month at her second run back from a spell, that performance giving connections confidence to chase further Black Type.

Deny Knowledge powered to the lead for Josh Richards and never looked like being caught, steaming to the line to win by two and a half lengths tasking her overall record to four wins and four placings from 17 starts.

Knowledge runs for Honeycomb Stud and partners, who can look forward to many more wins with this highly progressive mare.

“It was a plot hatched by her owner Adrian (Whittingham, Honeycomb Stud), who picked this race out for her and she’s a really good doer and really good traveller, so she came up here in great order,” said stable representative Nikki Burke.

“She travelled well and was never going to lose today. She doesn’t slow down, she has a high cruising speed and can keep it up.

“Josh has really clicked with her and it’s great to see him get the Group III on her.

“She’s an Irish mare that has taken a while to acclimatize, but every run she gets better and better.”

Deny Knowledge made 26,000 euros at the Goffs Sportsman’s Yearling Sale and is the first winner from The Paris Shrug, a winning half-sister by Monsun stallion Manduro to Group I Royal Ascot Gold Cup winner Big Orange.

This is also the family of much loved perennial Melbourne Cup placegetter and Group I winner Red Cadeaux, so Deny Knowledge can probably be winning over quite a bit further than 1600m as her career unfolds.

Pride of Dubai

She becomes the 15th stakes-winner worldwide for Pride of Dubai, who has a big crop of yearlings and 12 are entered for Magic Millions and a further eight for Inglis Classic.
