Snitzel Filly Stroll Captures Mode Stakes - Zoustar Half-Brother Heading to the Magic Millions

Mark Smith - Saturday December 3

In a head-bobbing finish to the Listed Channel 7 Mode Stakes at Doomben, it was the Snitzel filly Stroll who put the head down in time to end the undefeated streak of Chinny Boom.

Given a positive ride by Boris Thornton, the Steven O'Dea and Matthew Hoysted-trained filly defeated Chinny Boom (Spirit of Boom) by a short-half-head with a further half-length back to Sunshine In Paris (Invader), who motored home for third.

Carrying the colours of Proven Thoroughbreds, Stroll won the Listed Bill Carter Stakes at her 2yo finale and kick-started her 3yo season with a third over 1200m at Doomben on November 12.

Matt Hoysted said Stroll had taken plenty of improvement from her 3yo debut.

“She was very soft going to her first-up run, and we knew she would improve out of sight,” Hoysted said.

“When we get her out to 1350m, she will improve again.

“It was her second stakes win, and she was a high-priced yearling for Jamie (Walter) and the team at Proven Thoroughbreds, so it’s great for them, and hopefully, it’s not her last.

“We have got a month to the Vo Rogue (Stakes), and then it’s on to the Magic Millions.

“She does not need much racing and is looking for the 1350m now.”

A $450,000 purchase for Proven Thoroughbreds/O'Dea Hoysted Racing from the Baramul Stud draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Stroll advances her record to three wins and two thirds from six starts with earnings of $208,250.

From the incomparable Eight Carat family, Stroll is the first foal of the city-placed Street Cry (IRE) mare Walk The Streets, a half-sister to stakes-placed Sebrakate (Sebring) and Quattro Katie (Zoustar) out of dual Listed stakes winner Kakakakatie (Zeditave).

Walk In The Streets has a 2yo sister to Stroll and a yearling colt by Zosustar, which Baramul will consign to the Gold Coast in January. (Lot 537)

Walk In The Streets visited Zoustar again last spring.

Arrowfield Stud’s champion Snitzel has 46 catalogued for the Magic Millions, two at the Inglis Classic and one at Karaka.
