US Stakes-Winner for Fastnet Rock – Nicks that Click

Tara Madgwick - Monday November 28

The famed Fastnet Rock  x Galileo cross has produced numerous Group I winners in Europe, Australasia and the US and it was on show again when talented mare Star Devine captured the $150,000 Autumn Days Stakes at Aqueduct on Sunday, don’t miss two yearlings bred this way at MM 2023.

Purchased from the 2019 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 200,000 guineas, the Jorge Abreu trained mare was a TDN Rising Star when breaking her maiden last year before winning a subsequent stakes race and scored and east length and a  quarter win in this 6f sprint on turf.

Star Devine has the overall record of three wins and four placings from 10 starts.

“Today, it looks like the speed has been holding up. Jose [Ortiz] knows her from before when he rode her at Kentucky Downs. I told him to warm her up pretty well and keep her forwardly placed just because of how the track has been playing today,” said Jorge Abreu.

“She’ll go to the farm for 60 days and we’ll regroup next year and see how everything plays out.”

Star Devine is the first winner from Stars at Night, a winning half-sister by Galileo to Champion 3YO Filly and triple Group I winner Blue Bunting.

Stars at Night has been married to Fastnet Rock and has a three year-old full brother to Star Devine called Poker Face that  has won three races in the UK this year and a two year-old full sister, plus a yearling colt to follow.

Fastnet Rock

The Fastnet Rock x Galileo cross is an outstanding one that has produced 28 stakes-winners from 141 runners at nearly  20% stakes-winners to runners, those stakes-winners including nine Group I winners!

There are two yearlings bred this way to be offered at Magic Millions 2023:

Lot 610 from Cambridge stud is a bay Fastnet Rock colt from Anchovy (IRE), who comes from the family of Group I winners Duke of Marmalade and Ruler of the World.
