What the jockeys said after the Gilgai Stakes

Keen Array got the bob at the right time to claim Saturday's Group II Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington.

Keen Array ($10 - $8) defeated the Queenslander Sold For Song ($20) by a half-head with the Perth galloper Mailbu Style ($26) a short head away third.

Below is what the jockeys had to say about the performances of their Gilgai Stakes mounts.

1st	Keen Array	Mark Zahra	He just got his head down at the right time. It was a really good effort.
2nd	Sold For Song	James Orman	Really good run. The 1400m is her go. In two weeks time, she'll be really hard to beat.
3rd	Malibu Style	Steven Parnham	I was really happy with his run without the blinkers. After we'd gone a little bit, he relaxed and got a little sit on Keen Array but it allowed him to finish the race off.
4th	Bons Away	Linda Meech	He went super. They just went really steady and it didn't help him. He just needed a little bit of cover and I couldn't get it. He just overdid it a bit early and it was a good effort.
5th	Silent Sedition	Katelyn Mallyon	She went really well first-up. She probably really didn't get the straight either.
6th	Ulmann	Damian Lane	On the good track, they were a bit sharp for him and pinched three lengths on him but then he kept coming to the line.
7th	Land Of Plenty	Dwayne Dunn	The six-day back-up just flattened him. He really needs to be a bit fresher.
8th	Spieth	Corey Brown	I was very disappointed. He had a really nice run following the horse I thought was the one to beat. There was no Spieth of old and by the time he got to the 150(m), he had thrown the white flag up. There's obviously improvement in him but he didn't show anywhere near the talent he's got.
9^th	The Quarterback	Matthew Allen	He just never travelled and when I asked him to go, he went for about 100m and then his action went. I'm just worried that since that Lightning Stakes thing in the barriers that he hasn't been the same ever since. We're looking and we can't find anything but there's something wrong.
