Talented I Am Invincible stallion Minsk Moment has always shown glimmers of serious ability when trained by Chris Waller, but produced his first Black Type win in the care of new trainer Adam Durrant when taking out the Listed WATC Carbine Club of WA Stakes (1400m) at Ascot on Saturday.
Minsk Moment won a good class sprint at Geelong last month and was having his first run in Perth after arriving earlier this week.
He powered to the line from off the pace to win by a length taking his overall record to five wins from 13 starts with prizemoney topping $360,000.
A $575,000 Magic Millions purchase for James Bester Bloodstock/Coolmore Stud from the Yarraman Park Stud draft, Minsk Moment raced originally for a syndicate headed by Coolmore, but was offered at the Inglis Digital in May where that partnership was dissolved for $400,000.
He now runs for some of his original owners who include Yarraman Park, plus some new additions and carries the colours of his co-breeder Keith Biggs.
Minsk Moment was foaled and raised at Yarraman Park and is the first foal of the Group placed Oratorio mare Dancing Express, whose two year-old colt by Hellbent made $170,000 at Magic Millions this year when snapped up by Darby Racing.
Minsk Moment is the 86th stakes-winner for Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am Invincible, who has 53 entries for Magic Millions.
