Coolmore, Godolphin drafts headline Nov (Late) Online Sale

Media Release - Saturday November 19

Strong drafts from industry heavyweights Coolmore and Godolphin highlight a compelling catalogue for the Inglis Digital November (Late) Online Sale, which is now open for bidding.

The Coolmore duo consists of the talented Chris Waller-trained 3YO colts Basquiat (Snitzel) and Cool Kaap (American Pharoah).

Basquiat is a talented colt by Snitzel that topped the 2021 Magic Millions Yearling Sale..

A $1.9m yearling, Basquiat (pictured) is twice G3 placed, both occasions coming in this current preparation when finishing third to exciting 3YO Kibou in the Up And Coming Stakes and third behind G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Golden Mile in the Ming Dynasty Handicap.

Already a metropolitan winner, Cool Kaap is a lightly raced, progressive horse who raced without luck in a Stakes race at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.

He has accepted to run at Moonee Valley tonight.

On the duo, Coolmore’s Racing Manager Charlie Spicer-Jenkins said: “Basquiat finished within a length of the winner in the G1 JJ Atkins in June and is twice placed in G3 company; he’s a very rare offering. He certainly has the ability and you would expect to see significant upside when he’s gelded, but obviously we are a colts syndicate so he would no longer fit our business model as a gelding.

“Cool Kaap is a city winner out of a multiple Stakes winner, he has considerable upside. He has been competitive at distances ranging from 1200m to 1800m on both dry and wet ground so he’s very versatile.’’

Godolphin will offer 19 racehorses unreserved in the auction including Criaderas, the four-time winner and four times Group placed gelding who most recently finished 0.7L third at Newcastle’s metropolitan meeting last Saturday.

A lightly raced 6YO of just 21 starts, Criaderas has finished in the placings in the past two editions of the G2 Villiers Handicap, a race this year rebranded as The Ingham and to be contested for $2m at Randwick in just three weeks’ time.

Other notable entries in the Godolphin draft include half brothers to G1 superstars Anamoe and Pierro as well as G2 winner and young stallion Encryption, plus progeny of the likes of Exceed And Excel, Street Boss, Medaglia d’Oro, Lonhro, Dawn Approach, Astern, Frosted, Shooting To Win, Iffraaj, Impending, Hallowed Crown etc.

Godolphin’s Racing and Bloodstock Manager Jason Walsh believed there was a horse for every budget and desire in this latest offering.

“It’s a big draft and there’s everything from maiden gallopers right through to the well performed Criaderas, who bounced back to form at the weekend just gone,’’ Walsh said.

“He’s a proper horses Criaderas, he’s only lightly raced and he’s got a long and successful future ahead of him for his new owners in the right environment.

“We know Inglis Digital has a deep buying bench and there really is something for all the clients here.’’

Each of the Godolphin entries are available for inspection at either Kelvinside or Northwood Park.
