The William Haggas trained son of Sea the Stars enjoyed a stellar year racking up four Group I wins and is the first Shadwell bred and owned horse to take the prize.
The winners were:

Champion Older Horse Baaeed (Sea the Stars)
Champion 3YO Colt Vadeni (Churchill)
Champion 3YO Filly Inspiral (Frankel)

Champion 2YO Filly Lezoo comes from the first Northern Hemisphere crop of foals by Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar, who has sired 14 winners in Europe this year.
Trained by Ralph Beckett, Lezoo had five starts for four wins and a second.
The recipient of the Cartier/Daily Telegraph Award of Merit for 2022 was Alpinista’s owner-breeder Kirsten Rausing, who is also the breeder of imported Australian Group I winners Zaaki and Durston.
Laurent Feniou, managing director of Cartier UK, said: “Baaeed lit up the season with four brilliant victories and he is a worthy recipient of the Cartier Horse of the Year award. We are also thrilled to honour Kirsten Rausing, who has given so much to the industry.”
