Winx one of seven Turnbull Stakes runners

Winx will have six rivals at most for her maiden Flemington appearance in Saturday's Group I Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington.

Winx's previous Melbourne runs have been at Caulfield and Moonee Valley but will chase a $300,000 winner's cheque in the Turnbull Stakes.

Winx will carry 57kg under the set weights and penalties format of the Turnbull Stakes while the impressive Makybe Diva Stakes winner Humidor will carry 59kg.

Lindsay Park will run Ventura Storm in the Turnbull Stakes while Macedon Lodge has accepted with Assign and Sir Isaac Newton.

Saturday's Flemington card also features the Group II Gilgai Stakes (1200m) for which nine runners have accepted, headed by Group I winner The Quarterback while William Reid Stakes winner Silent Sedition will open her spring campaign in the $200,000 race.

A field of 17 three-year-old fillies, including one emergency, has accepted to contest the Group II Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) while 19 mares (three emergencies) make up for the field for the Group II Blazer Stakes (1400m).

The Flemington track was rated a Good (4) at acceptance time while the running rail will be in the nine-metre position for the entire circuit.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecast for Melbourne for the rest of the week is:

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Max 24.
Thursday: Shower or two. Max 22.
Friday: Showers easing. Max 16.
Saturday: Partly cloudy. Max 21.
