Royally bred Snitzel filly Crystalane kick-started her career in style with a brave front-running performance in an 1100m fillies and mares maiden plate at Wyong on Tuesday.
Ridden by Tom Sherry for Mark Newnham, Crystalane repelled the challenge of Godolphin’s Ribchester (IRE) filly Perpignan by a half-head with a short-half-head back to the 4yo Stratum star mare Edna in third.
Well-schooled with four barrier trials
“She is a nice filly that has been well-prepared by Mr Newnham and the team at home,” Sherry said.
“She trialed up well, has a brilliant attitude and a great temperament. She did a lot of things right today. She had a good look around, which was to be expected, but she knuckled down.

“With her attitude, she should stretch out over further.”
