Vain Stakes Next for Inglis Ready 2Race Sale-Topper

Tara Madgwick - Saturday July 30

The top lot at the 2021 Inglis Ready2Race Sale was a speedy bay colt by Super One that sold for $400,000 and he confirmed his potential when scoring a brilliant win at Moonee Valley on Saturday to stamp himself as an early spring contender.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Alpha One was in hot form heading to Melbourne with wins at Newcastle and Hawkesbury at his previous two starts.

Shooting for the hat trick in the open 2YO event over 955m, Alpha One gave Damian Lane an easy task, jumping swiftly to take up the lead and then  keeping up a good gallop to win as he pleased.

uo;He’s a lovely type, blessed with natural pace and to come to Moonee Valley today and win like that suggests there is more to come,” said Peter Snowden, confirming that the Group III MRC Vain Stakes on August 13 would be his next target.

Alpha One was offered at the Inglis Ready2Race by Symphony Lodge and bought by KF Cheng and was a successful pinhook having been sourced as a yearling for $55,000 from the Edinglassie Thoroughbreds draft from Magic Millions Book 2.

He has now won three of six starts earning  just shy of $120,000 in prizemoney and is the best of four winners from Cash First, an unraced half-sister by Exceed and Excel to the dams of Group III winner She’s So High (I Am Invincible) and stakes-winners Mockery.

This is the family of Group I winners Shooting to Win and La Luna Rossa as well as Group II winning sire Deep Field, so Alpha One is not short of pedigree.

His sire Super One, a fast Group III winning son of I Am Invincible, has relocated to Lincoln Farm this spring and stands at a fee of $16,500.
