Already a two time Listed stakes-winner, Wootton Bassett sprinter Amilcar produced a career best performance to win the Group III Prix de la Porte Maillot (1400m) at Longchamp overnight.
Trained by A & G Botti, Amilcar was having his third run this year and powered to a three-quarter length win taking his overall record to six wins and four placings from 13 starts.
Amilcar is the best of five winners from stakes-winning King’s Best mare Drosia and is the 18th Group winner among 28 stakes-winners sired by Wootton Bassett.
Shuttling to Coolmore Australia this spring for the second time, Wootton Bassett covered an outstanding book of mares in Australia last year and remains at the same fee of $71,500.
