Darley Stallions Continue Winning Run In America

Mark Smith - Sunday October 1

Following on from a successful Epson Day at Randwick Darley stallions were to the fore in America with Medaglia d"Oro (USA) striking with 3yo filly Elate in the Grade 1 Beldame Stakes at Belmont and 2yo colt Bolt d'Oro in the Grade 1 Frontrunner Stakes at Santa Anita while Dubawi (IRE) chimed in with 5yo entire Mubtaahij in the Grade 1 Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita.

Coming off a win in the Grade 1 Beldam Stakes, the Bill Mott-trained Elate was brilliant in the Beldame bettering her elders by upwards of eight and a quarter lengths and earning a spot in the G1 Breeders' Cup Distaff in November.

The Claiborne Farm & Adele B. Dilschneider homebred, Elate is the bluest of bluebloods.

Her stakes-winning dam Cheery (Distorted Humor) is a daughter of  Grade II winner and Grade 1-placed Yell a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Eastern Echo and multiple Graded Stakes winner Roar.

Medaglia d'Oro struck again with the Mick Ruis-trained Bolt d'Oro who remains unbeaten in three starts following his seven and three-quarter length romp in the Grade 1 Frontrunner Stakes.

The 2yo colt was coming off a win in the Grade I Del Mar Futurity on September 4.

Bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm, Bolt d'Oro was purchased by his owner-trainer for $630,000 at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga August Yearling sale.

He is out of winning daughter of A.P. Indy Globe Trot, whose first foal Sonic Mule (Distorted Humor) was second in Grade II Saratoga Special and third in the GII Swale Stakes.

Dubawi joined in the celebrations when Mubtaahij, who was making his first start for trainer Bob Baffert, scored a one and a half-length victory in the Grade 1 Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita earning him an automatic berth in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Classic.

It was his first start since finishing fourth to Arrogate in the Dubai World Cup.

A €450,000 yearling, Mubtaahij is a half-brother to Group 1 Prix de l'Opera winner Lily Of The Valley (Galileo) out of the Pennekamp mare, Pennegale.
