Twin Hills Stud based Hallowed Crown added a new stakes-winner to his tally on Sunday when the Singapore Stewards Cup Sg G2 was won by four year-old gelding Relentless, who was a savvy purchase from the Blake Ryan Racing draft at the 2019 Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale.
Trained by Tim Fitzsimmons, Relentless was a long shot in the 1600m feature, but won by three-quarters of a length over race favourite Lim’s Kosciuszko taking his overall record to five wins and five placings from 15 starts.
“It’s amazing, that’s very special,” said Fitzsimmons who only trained his first Group winner when Golden Monkey won the Group 3 Singapore Three-Year-Old Sprint (1200m) last Saturday.
“He was one of the first horses I bought with Peter Twomey (bloodstock agent at Wattle Bloodstock) and he had a little setback last year, but the owners have been amazing. They’re so patient with him and I’m pumped.”
A $30,000 purchase for Wattle Bloodstock from the Blake Ryan draft at the Inglis Ready 2 Race, Relentless is a half-brother to Hong Kong trained Group III winner Buddies and is the second stakes-winner for his Group III placed dam Gladwell.
Relentless is the sixth stakes-winner for Hallowed crown, who stands at Twin Hills Stud at a fee of $11,000 this spring.
