$1.7Million for Mare in Foal to Frankel

Mares in foal to Juddmonte Farm’s champion sire Frankel have been lighting up the Gold Coast Sale ring on Thursday as the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale continues.

There are 13 mares catalogued after withdrawlals that have been covered by Frankel with the majority to be offered today and the most expensive sold so far is the Coolmore consigned Invincible Spirit mare Fantasy (IRE).

Snapped up by Yulong under their Lucky Vega Syndicate banner for $1.7million, Fantasy is a Group III placed daughter of blue hen Cassandra Go, best known as the dam of triple Group I winner Halfway to Heaven, the dam of champion mares Magical and Rhododendron, who are both by Galileo.

Fantasy produced a colt by Galileo last year before being covered by Frankel and he remains in Ireland.

Other big results for mares in foal to Frankel are stakes-winning Dark Angel mare Easton Angel (IRE), consigned by Glenesk Thoroughbreds and  bought by Yulong as Written Tycoon Syndicate for $1.35million.

Also Willow Park Stud’s Australian bred Lonhro mare Key (IRE) that made $1.1million when bought by Bevan Smith Bloodstock/Andrew Williams Bloodstock (FBAA). Key is a Group III placed grand-daughter of Champion NZ 3YO Filly Princess Coup, who has had success with Frankel to produce this season’s Group III winning filly Argentia.
