Making her first appearance since finishing second to subsequent Group 1 winner Snapdancer in the $1,000,000 Magic Millions Fillies and Mares at the Gold Coast in January, Vulpine came with a barnstorming finish to land the Listed Emirates Park Ortensia Stakes (1100m) at Scone on Saturday.
Ridden by Jay Ford for Brad Widdup, Vulpine had just two of the 11 starters behind her with just 200m left to run.
The 5yo daughter of Snitzel rocketed home to defeat the Rubick gelding Mr Mosaic by a head with the Shooting To Win gelding Ranges a short-half-head back in third.
With previous stakes wins in the Group III ATC Wenona Girl Handicap and Listed ATC Starlight Stakes, Vulpine advances her record to seven five two from 29 starts with earnings of $611,640.
Consigned by Willow Park Stud to the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Vulpine was bought by Andrew Williams B/S /Millsy Girls Racing/BK Racing for $340,000.
She is the best of two winners from three to race out of the Elusive Quality (USA) mare Elusive Leone.
Purchased by James Harron Bloodstock for $550,000 at the 2015 National broodmare Sale, Elusive Leone is a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner and successful sire Star Witness, the Group III winner Nostradamus, and the Group 1-placed Lady Lupino.
Sadly, Elusive Leone died in 2017. Her final foal is the Sebring mare Eight Diamonds. The winner of two races at Canterbury, Eight Diamonds was covered by Showtime last spring.
