One To Watch - Ballarat

Mark Smith - Sunday April 24

The Daniel Bowman-trained Rich Enuff filly Bubble Palace made an auspicious career debut over 1100m at Ballarat on Sunday.

With Harry Coffey in the saddle, Bubble Palace was in second gear for all but the final 200m, leading at every call to defeat the $760,000 Redoute’s Choice filly Miss Passion by three and a half lengths. Godolphin’s homebred Exosphere Legio Ten was a half neck back in third.

“Daniel asked me to take the sit on her in a trial at Avoca, and I was quite taken how she handled things,” Coffey said.

“in the jumpout, she was pretty cruisy – jumped out – took control and slipped away from them with a lot in hand.

“It was a similar story today. I don’t know what she had if one came up and tested us, but the thing I was most taken by was her cruising speed. I let her stride between the 800m and 400m, and she felt nice underneath me. She was going to take a bit of catching after that.

“She is still a bit raw and green. Daniel and his team have done a really good job in preparing her. Had a bit of trouble with her barrier manners; she was a little reluctant to go in, which is surprising as everything else she takes in her stride.

Bubble Palace a $180,000 Inglis Classic yearling

“Hopefully, with a nice day at the races, everything going smoothly, she’s starting to work out that it is not that bad being a racehorse.

Bubble Palace sports the colours of Christine and Francis Cook’s Mystery Downs, who, in association with john Foote, purchased the daughter of Rich Enuff for  $180,000 from the Woodside Park Stud draft at the 2021 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

She is a half-sister to   Robbie Griffiths and Mathew de Kock’s highly regarded Cable bay filly Tiz My Baby.

Despite being a 9-start maiden, Tiz My Baby was far from disgraced in the Group III Ethereal Stakes, Group II Wakeful Stakes, and Group 1 VRC Oaks last spring.

Their dam, the winning Snitzel filly Tiz My View, has been catalogued for the 2022 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale on May 8.

Tiz My View

A half-sister to the recent Sha Tin winner Shanghai Dragon (All Too Hard), Tiz My View carries a positive test to Hanseatic on a September 1 cover.

It’s proving to be a weekend to remember for Calvados Bloodstock’s Fionnuala Timoney who purchased the dam of comeback queen Bella Vella, Forget The Weather, for $20,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. Timoney shelled out $15,000 for Tiz My View 2021 Inglis May (Early) Online Sale.
