Outstanding racemare Lighthouse is the latest star confirmed for May's Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.

A recent Group One winner of the Coolmore Classic during the Sydney Autumn Carnival, the mare will be offered in the supplementary catalogue and will go under the hammer on May 24.

A stakes winner in her native United States, the daughter of Mizzen Mast has been a revelation in Australia with five wins and three seconds from just 10 starts for trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

Leading American based bloodstock agent Jason Litt, of Solis/Litt Bloodstock, said Lighthouse had been a star right from her juvenile days.

"We purchased Lighthouse at the breeze up sale for US$375,000 - she's a big, strong and attractive type. She breezed her eighth of a mile in 10 seconds - showing great speed. With this in mind she was very popular with buyers."

"Right from the start she showed ability - breaking her maiden at her second start when leading throughout and being group placed before winning a stakes race over 1100 metres."

With connections struggling to find a suitable program of races in the United States the decision was made by connections to ship her to Australia.

"Alex (Solis II) and I had visited Australia on a number of occasions and were always looking for the right horse to bring and race."

"She ended up going to Victoria because that was the same direction she had raced at home. What she has achieved in a short time in Australia has been remarkable. To win a Group One at her eighth start here is amazing!"

"Lighthouse is by a top sire in the US and she is a great physical that's for sure," Litt noted. "She will present beautifully at the sale."

An eight time winner from just 19 runs, Lighthouse will be offered through the draft of Arrowfield Stud and will join what is shaping as a quality packed supplementary catalogue.

"Lighthouse is a spectacular addition to the National Broodmare Sale," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "She showed her class in the US and then went to a whole new level in Australia over the past few months."

"She adds to what will be an outstanding line up of racefillies and mares to be offered at the Gold Coast," Bowditch added. "It's a privilege to be given the opportunity to offer Lighthouse on behalf of the Roth family's LNJ Foxwood."

The Magic Millions Gold Coast National Sale will commence on May 19 with Day One of the National Weanling Sale. Lighthouse will be offered on Day One of the National Broodmare Sale - May 24 as part of the racefillies and maiden mares catalogue.

The catalogues for the National Weanling and Broodmare Sales will be released online in the coming days.
