$2million I Am Invincible Half-Sister to Classique Legend

Tyreel Stud have achieved sale ring and racetrack success in recent years under the ownership of Linda and Laurence Monds, but soared to a new level at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Wednesday when selling the half-sister by I Am Invincible to Everest hero Classique Legend for $2million.

An eye-catching grey filly, she is the fifth foal of winning Encosta de Lago mare Pinocchio, a full sister to champion miler Racing to Win.

Aside from producing $9.3 million earner Classique Legend, Pinocchio is also the dam of HK Group II winner Aethero and she had a So You Think colt sell at this sale for $1.1million in 2020, so she’s been a tremendous success for Tyreel.

Linda Monds confessed she was never intending to sell the filly and fully expected to be taking her home, but when her reserve was passed, Mitchell Bloodstock had the winning bid at $2million.

“Outstanding family and she is an outstanding filly,” said James Mitchell.

“The client gave us a brief to fill and she was the best we could find. They said show us the best 20 yearlings in the sale and we narrowed it down from there.

“The client is over the moon.”

 

$2million I Am Invincible filly from Pinocchio

A trainer is still to be decided for the gorgeous grey, who has taken over as the most expensive yearling sold at this sale in 2022. She is also the most expensive filly ever sired by I Am Invincible and is his equal highest priced yearling ever.

“I felt she was such a special filly and deserved every bit of the sale price she achieved,” said Linda Monds, who always planned to keep the first filly from her blue hen Pinocchio, who was bought for $320,000 from the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2014 .

“We set the reserve and weren’t going to budge, so it’s totally blown me away that she has sold.

“She has been the most heavily vetted and inspected horse we have ever had and I was so impressed with the way she handled it. I think she will be a superstar.”

Pinocchio produced a filly by Pierro last spring and is now in foal to Snitzel.
