Racing Australia Chairman John Messara AM has paid tribute to Myles Foreman following the announcement he is stepping down at the end of June after two years in the role of Racing Australia CEO.
"The Board joins me in thanking Myles for his hard work and dedication to the advancement of Australian racing and breeding over the past 16 years and we wish him well in the future, including in the establishment of his sports and business consultancy company," John Messara said.
Myles joined Racing Information Services Australia (RISA) in June 2006 in the newly created role of CEO. With the merger of RISA and the Australian Racing Board (ARB) in April 2015, Myles assumed the role of Operations CEO for the newly formed Racing Australia. From November 2019 to October 2020 Myles held the role of Acting CEO and since October 2020 he has held the role of CEO of Racing Australia.
"During his 16 years Myles has made significant and lasting contributions to the industry, including through the establishment of the Single National System (SNS) now used by all Principal Racing Authorities across Australia. Under his guidance, the related My Horse Racing Portal is transiting the industry's paper-based forms online. Other developments during Myles' tenure included the integration of the Stud Book into Racing Australia and the related establishment of the Equine Genetics Research Centre in Scone. In the welfare space, the introduction of expanded traceability rules and processes was an important development. Myles has guided a startup business when he first joined in 2006 delivering year on year growth, enabling reinvestment into the Racing Australia business," John Messara added.
The Board will shortly consider the replacement process and the appointment of an Acting CEO upon Myles departure if a replacement is not secured by that time.
