Left The Building Stakes Winner 194 for Exceed And Excel

Darley Stud's flagship stallion Exceed And Excel moved to within six of a double century of stakes winners when the Luke Fernie-trained Left The Building scored a last stride win in Saturday's Amelia Park - Perth Stakes (100m) at Ascot.

Ridden by Clint Johnston-Porter, Left The Building came with a barnstorming finish to edge the Lucky Street gelding Street Parade by  half-head with the with Supido gelding Kosta's Crown three-quarter of a length back in third.

Second and third credited their respective sires with their first black-type performers.  

Left The Building was firm in the market following a third on debut behind his stablemate Man Crush in the Magic Millions Crystal Slipper Stakes at Ascot on November 20.

Bred by Three Bridges Thoroughbreds, Left The Building was a $170,000 weanling and a $130,000 Inglis Easter yearling.

He is the only winner from two to race out of the More Than Ready (USA) mare Vicennalia (USA), a half-sister to Grade II winner Speaktomeofsummer and Listed winner Proud Reunion.

Vicennalia (USA) a US$500,000 purchase by John Ferguson, on behalf of Godolphin, at the 2014 September yearling Sale.

A 2yo winner at Newbury, Vicennalia (USA) was back in the ring again at the 2016 Tattersalls July Bloodstock Sale where Sheamus Mills Bloodstock / Yulong Investments shelled out $80,000gns.

Carrying a positive test to Frankel, she was consigned by Yulong to the 2017 National Broodmare Sale with Paul Willetts signing the ticket for $400,000.

Then at the 2021 Inglis October Online Sale, Vicennalia (USA) sold for $105,000 with a Dundeel colt at her side. She was covered by Impending last spring.
