One to Watch – Pakenham

Tara Madgwick - Thursday February 3

A few weeks ago we did a story on Breednet highlighting the fact that first two foals of Group I MRC Thousand Guineas winner Stay With Me were about to take to the track and the first of them Waltz on By was fourth in the Group III MRC Blue Diamond Preview and the second raced tonight.

Three year-old Deep Impact filly Always on My Mind was produced in a 1400m maiden at Pakenham on Thursday evening by the Lindsay Park team of Ben and JD Hayes and she scored a fast finishing head win as favourite.

“Very promising debut for a filly that will get better over further it as just outstanding,” said JD Hayes of Always on My Mind, who is a homebred for Arrowfield Stud and partners.

“You could see how green she was in the straight so she will take a lot of benefit out of it.

“I’d just like to thank John Messara for supporting the team at :Lindsay Park and giving us the opportunity with a quality filly that is so impeccably bred. She’s clearly got gears.”

Black Type races will obviously be the goal for this filly, but her trainers will assess her after this performance before making any plans.

Always on My Mind is the first foal and first winner for Stay With Me, a Street Cry (IRE) daughter of Arrowfield Stud’s Champion 2YO and 3YO  filly Miss Finland.

Stay With Me has a yearling filly that Arrowfield will offer at Inglis Easter as Lot 448.

She also has a weanling colt by Dundeel and last year was covered by I Am Invincible.
