First $1million Yearling for Deep Field

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 14

Following a year in which his service fee was raised to $88,000 it was good to see Newgate Farm’s Deep Field get his first million dollar yearling with a colt from Capital Commander cracking the milestone sum at Magic Millions on Friday.

The first $1million yearling by Deep Field from Capital Commander.

A powerful chestnut consigned by Newgate Farm, he was bought by Hawkes Racing, who train his promising half-brother Clemenceau, who has won three in a row since the catalogue went to print.

Bred by SF Bloodstock and partners, the history making colt was foaled and raised at Newgate and is the fourth living foal of stakes-placed Commands mare Capital Commander, a grand-daughter of Group II winner Twining.

This colt has obviously impressed all the way along as Capital Commander has a Deep Field colt to follow and is back in foal to the top class son of Northern Meteor.

He is the third million dollar yearling at this sale sold by Newgate Farm, who have taken a commanding lead as most successful vendor by aggregate selling 41 yearlings for $17million.
