Sebring Filly Goes Two for Two

Mark Smith - Wednesday January 12

A winner on debut at Geelong on Boxing Day, the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained No Diggity was untroubled to make it two from two in the Vale Rick Hore-Lacy Hcp (1200m) at Caulfield on Wednesday.

Little more than a length separated the five runners in the first 200m before Craig Newitt took up the running on the 2yo daughter of Sebring.

When Newitt let the reins out a notch turning for home No Diggity quickly put the race to bed. She was untroubled to defeat Toronto Terrier (Toronado) by two and a quarter length with New York Scandal (Manhattan Rain) a half-head back in third.

Bred by Hutchins Thoroughbreds, No Diggity was a $150,000 purchase by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock (BAFNZ), on behalf of Pinecliff Racing), from the Element Hill draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

She is the fourth winner from as many to race out of the 4-time winner Rare Ruby a half-sister to the ill-fated Meurice (Strategic) who won the ATC Champagne Stakes and placed in the Golden Slipper and ATC Sires’ Produce stakes.

Rare Ruby’s three-year-old star Witness filly Putontheredlight finished second in the Listed Mode Plate at Doomben in December.

Rare Ruby has no yearling this season, but she has a colt foal by Trapeze Artist and was covered by the son of Snitzel again last spring.
