Russian Warrior could not quite get the job done when the ‘Best On Breeding’ at her debut when fourth at Doomben, but she opened her winning account at start two in a thrilling finish to the Amalgamated Group Maiden Plate (1200m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

In a three-horse war, the daughter of Russian Revolution edged out the Not a Single doubt filly Floral Oasis by a half-head with another daughter of Not a Single Doubt,  Affogato Girl a nose back in third.

Russian Warrior was ridden by her trainer Allan Chau, who announced he would be relinquishing his jockey licence to concentrate on training.
