Second Win for Starman

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 4

Newly gelded Zoustar three year-old Starman showed great tenacity to edge out his stablemate Sacrimony to win at Rosehill on Saturday.

An eye-catching debut winner when he scored in the last Sydney metropolitan juvenile of the season back in July, Starman finished fifth and fourth at two subsequent runs with his trainer Chris Waller then electing to geld him.

Ridden by James McDonald, Starman travelled deep but hit the line hard to win the Benchmark 72 event over 1200m by half a head. He has now won two of four starts earning over $90,000 in prizemoney.

Being Magic Millions eligible, connections will no doubt have an eye towards the big Gold Coast race day in January if Starman continues to improve.

A $500,000 Magic Millions purchase for Tom Magnier from the Bowness Stud draft, Starman was also bred by Bowness Stud and is the sixth winner from six to race from good producer You’re Dreamin, a winning half-sister by Commands to stakes-winners Johnny Reb and Power of Pegasus.

You’re Dreamin has foaled this spring for Bowness Stud producing a colt by their exciting young Group I winning sire D’Argento.
