Swettenham Stud shuttler Toronado (IRE) has achieved great success in 2021 and added a new stakes-winner to his tally in France overnight when Amazonie took out the Listed Prix Petite Etoile (1900m) at Deauville.
Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, the three year-old filly had won four races this year, but this was her first Black Type success and she forged clear to win by a length on the all weather surface.
Amazonie was bought for €85,000 euro from the Arqana August Yearling Sale by her trainer and is the best of two winners from Amarysia, a winning half-sister by Medicean to Group III winner Skia, the dam of Japanese Group II winner Vine de Garde.
Further down the page we see 2020 Champion 3YO Filly Love, so there is plenty of quality in the female family.
Amazonie is the 21st stakes-winner for Toronado and is his 15th this year with highlight horses being Group I winners Masked Crusader and Tribhuvan as well as Group II winners Still a Star and Treasured Star.
A champion miler by High Chaparral, Toronado had a fee increase this year to $49,500 and has proven well deserving of the faith placed in him.
