Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Two heats for juveniles on Friday morning at Rosehill over 900m were won by the progeny of champion sires Redoute’s Choice and Exceed and Excel.



The quickest of the two heats was won by the Bjorn Baker trained filly Ginger’s Gal, who made it two wins from as many trial starts when she again showed oodles of natural talent and the tractability required for race day.

She mustered speed quickly from the gates to cross and take the lead on the fence where she relaxed nicely for Jason Collett going on to win by three-quarters of a length.

Bred and sold by Yulong, Ginger’s Gal was a $600,000 Magic Millions purchase for All Winners Thoroughbreds and is a half-sister to Group III winner Irukandji and her Group II placed dam Cerberus Gal has had five to race all winners with this daughter of Exceed and Excel likely to be her sixth.

 


The very last crop of Redoute’s Choice foals are two year-olds this season so there will be plenty of interest in these 23 youngsters that include the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained colt Mount Brilliant.

The colt had a soft trial finishing fourth at Randwick on October 8, but was asked to do a lot more this time with blinkers fitted to keep him focused on the task.

He was driven forward out wide by Nash Rawiller and made to find the line scoring a head win with an eye-catching run from Hellbent colt Never Fails , who surged along the fence for third.

$350,000 Magic Millions purchase Mount Brilliant.

Mount Brilliant was a $350,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Arrowfield draft for Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds and has a top class European female family.

He is from Al Jasrah (IRE), a half-sister by Shirocco to four time Group I winner Hartnell (GB) from the family of Champion 3YO Suave Dancer, so has the depth of pedigree to suggest unlimited future potential.
