A metro winning treble on Wednesday for Deep Field has seen him move to the top of the leading Australian sires list by winners with 18 winners in the first 18 days of the new season.
Five year-old Deep Field gelding Rebel Salute scored at Doomben for Bryan and Daniel Guy, while at Sandown he posted a winning double courtesy of four year-old mare Gabeira, trained by Chris Waller for Star Thoroughbreds, and five year-old mare Cicero Field for J Warren & D Krongold.
Lightly raced Gabeira was a $160,000 Magic Millions purchase for star Thoroughbreds from the Edinburgh Park draft and has won two of five starts with the promise of more wins to come
Gabeira is the first winner for metro winning Testa Rossa mare Quicksilver Lass, a half-sister to Star Thoroughbreds former much loved Group I winner D’Argento, who is now standing at Bowness Stud.
Gabeira highlights a successful nick for Deep Field with daughters of Testa Rossa. The cross has produced four winners from five runners headed by Group II winner Xilong.
Deep Field stands at Newgate this spring at a fee of $88,000.
