Street Boss Gelding Leads Home Blueblood Trifecta at Randwick

Mark Smith - Wednesday August 4

An inexperienced field of new season three-year-olds stretched out to 1500m of the Sky Racing Maiden at Randwick-Kensington, and it was a son of Street Boss (USA) that came up trumps.

The Chris Waller-trained Estreet made his second trip to the races three weeks after a lacklustre tenth of eleven on debut at Cranbourne.

Given a patient ride by Kerrin McEvoy, Estreet pounced at the 200m before holding the challenge of the fast-finishing Pierro gelding   Semeco by a head with the Redoute’s Choice filly  Bay Of Kiel a long-neck back in third. Semeco, a half-brother to Golden Slipper winner Mossfun, and Bay Of Kiel, a daughter of the Victoria Oaks and Vinery Stud Stakes winner Faint Perfume, showed enough to suggest they have a future.

Estreet is an Ingham Racing homebred. Bred on the cross responsible for last season’s ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner and Golden Slipper runner-up Anamoe, Estreet is a son of the Redoute’s Choice mare Dystopia.

A seven-time winner of over $632,000, Dystopia’s highlights came in the Group III G.H. Mumm Stakes, Listed Toy Show Quality and Listed Triscay Stakes.

The sister to Golden Slipper winner Stratum proved one of the better buys from the $18,125,000 splurged by Ingham Bloodstock on 24 yearlings at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Sale.

The luck on the track has yet to materialize for Dystopia at stud. Her first two foals by Pierro and Lonhro died and she missed in her third season.

Estreet is her first live foal, followed by a 2yo Spirit Of Boom colt named Utopian Spirit and a weanling Pierro filly.

Street Boss (USA) finished third on the 2yo sires honour roll last season behind the first season sire wonders Extreme Choice and Capitalist.

The son of Street Cry (IRE) stands at a fee of $55,000 in his first season at Darley’s Hunter Valley showpiece this spring.
