Second Winner for Stratum Star

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 19

Widden Stud’s promising young sire Stratum Star posted his second winner on Monday when short priced favourite Watch Me Rumble saluted for the Clint Lundholm stable.

Second on debut in the $30,000 Silver Goblet at Dubbo last month, Watch Me Rumble looked a good thing in the juvenile maiden over 1100m at Narromine, but things didn’t all go her way.

Jumping from an outside gate for apprentice rider Elissa Meredith, Watch Me Rumble as eased back at the start and found herself worse than midfield and was the widest runner turning for home.

Watch Me Rumble warmed to her task, with her last furlong her best as she reeled in the front runners to win by three-quarters of a length.

Watch Me Rumble was retained to race by her breeder and is the third winner from Cheval Noir, whose fourth dam is blue hen Jesmond Lass, the dam of Group I winners Canny Lad and Canny Lass.

Stratum Star stands at a fee of $8,800.

A dual Group I winner by Stratum, Stratum Star has had two winners and four place-getters from his first crop and stands at a fee of $8,800.
