Legendary Japanese sire Deep Impact has been making news this week with his final yearlings offered at the JRHA Sale in Japan and he also featured at Doomben on Wednesday with an impressive maiden winner that was a $950,000 yearling resold last year through Inglis Digital for $10,000.
Trained by Kacy Fodgen, three year-old gelding Nowitzki was a short priced favourite having his first start f or his new trainer when resuming from a spell in the 1350m maiden.
Unplaced in three starts last year for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Nowitzki was a different horse this time around having been gelded and undergone a wind operation.
He led all the way to win by four lengths in a dominant display.
Nowitzki was a $950,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Aquis Farm from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft and was re-offered through Inglis Digital in their early March Sale last year (click to see his page) and sold for $10,000 to dissolve a partnership involving Aquis HK HG1 and now runs for the Fung Family Racing Syndicate.
Bred by Raffles Dancers, Nowitzki is the first winner for Miss Ivanovic (IRE), an unraced sibling to Group II winner Gold Fun and stakes-winner Body and Soul.
