French G3 Winner for Exosphere

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 12

Transferring to Oaklands Stud in Queensland this spring, Exosphere has been making news in recent days with a Breednet ‘One to Watch’ in Perlant last week and a new stakes-winner in France overnight where three year-old gelding Ocean won the Group III Prix de Ris-Orangis (1200m) at Deauville.

Ocean made it three wins in succession, coming into this race with wins at Chantilly and Longchamp at his two previous starts.

Trained by Stephan Cerulis, Ocean  forged clear to win by a length and a quarter becoming the third stakes-winner for Lonhro’s Group I winning son Exosphere, who shuttled to France for one season for Darley.

Ocean is a half-brother to stakes-winner Aiming for Rio and is from Compton Place mare Tevara, a daughter of Group II winner Torgau.

The lone French crop for Exosphere that are now three year-olds has produced nine winners from 18 starters with Ocean the first stakes-winner to go with two stakes-placed horses in Total Knockout and Easter.

The Australian offspring of Exosphere are headed by Group II winner Thermosphere, Group III winner Exoboom and Group III placed Jemss.

Exosphere stands in Queensland this spring.

Exosphere stands in Queensland this spring at Oaklands Stud at a fee of $4,950.
