There was only one race run at Scone before the meeting was abandoned, but that was enough for Newgate Farm’s Winning Rupert to post his tenth winner of the season.
The Brett Cavanough trained filly Into Champagne was easy in the market, but was tenacious at the finish snatching a short half head win in the 900m maiden.

Into Champagne was a modest $7,000 Inglis Classic Highway Sale purchase from the Murrulla Stud draft and is the second winner and final foal from stakes-winning Foxhound (USA) mare Shekinaar, who died in 2020.
Winning Rupert has made a pleasing start to his stud career with 10 winners and a further six placed horses including stakes-placed Bolsonaro from 28 runners.
A brilliantly fast son of Written Tycoon, Winning Rupert stands at a fee of $11,000 this spring.
